Publication Ethics

​The Malaysian Journal of Medical and Biological Research follows the Code of Conduct of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and follows the COPE Flowcharts for resolving cases of suspected misconduct.

Publishing ethics
The journal maintains a strict peer-review process. This review process is made sure by strict ethical policies and professional codes. The journal selects experts from the fields of the submitted paper who are well-known for their original and innovative contributions. This review process helps to choose the best articles with fascinating applications. The journal takes serious notice of the violation of these professional guidelines. All the submitted papers must be original and are not being considered in other journals and conference proceeding etc.

Plagiarism
We screen all the submitted papers for plagiarism using the Turnitin and Grammarly software. We make sure that the submitted papers contain original materials. If any paper contains material copied from other sources is subject to plagiarism sanctions.

Data Fabrication and Falsification
We try to make sure that the data and experiments are not fabricated and falsified. If found so, these papers are rejected without any further action, and sanctions are imposed.  We take these facts very seriously.

Citation Manipulation
We do not encourage citing the papers for the sake of increasing the citation. At the submission time, we ask the authors to ensure this fact. We either send the paper back to the authors or reject the paper right away.

Duplicate Submission
We make sure that all the papers are not published elsewhere. If found so, we take strict action against these authors under the duplication sanction, and these papers are withdrawn immediately from the journal website.

Improper Author Contribution or Attribution
In this journal, we ask the authors to write the percentage of their contributions in the submitted manuscripts. This takes care of the improper author contribution.

Sanctions
If we find any violations of these ethics and professional codes, strict action is taken.
In these circumstances, the following sanctions are applied.

  • The Paper is rejected immediately.
  • Probation for the authors to serve as the referees/reviewers for this journal.

In cases the violations of the above policies are found to be serious; further sanctions may be imposed by the publishers.
